The Renaissance in Italy
The Renaissance in Italy was ultimately a time of rebuilding the society that they had before the French wars. Many literary works were created, and Italian printers were Europe's leading producers of editions of Roman and Greek works. Also in this time, architecture and the visual arts were flourishing. Architecture's emphasis changed, from fancy architecture, just to have it there, to functional "urban planning". In terms of art, religious art hit a new level, due to the importance of the papacy as the focus of the Catholic Church. Much new art was created, although much was controversial, specially the religious works that had something a little "off" portrayed in it.
